Following the guide proposed by “Tourisme Montréal” and the Sustainable Event Council (Conseil québécois des événements écoresponsables) [1], some of the sustainable actions undertaken by the AWC23 organization and the conference center are listed here.
Waste Management :
- Name tags and lanyards will be reused for other events. When you leave, please deposit them in the boxes at the foot of the stairs and escalator (conference level).
- Recycling bins will available at the conference center. In Montréal: blue bin = recycling, black bin = general waste and brown bin = compost (sometimes recycling is in a green bin, look for this logo on the bin ♲).
Responsible Consumption :
- QR codes displayed at the conference venue will give you access to the most up-to-date program, conference proceedings and WIFI information.
- No distribution of reusable bags.
- Prize draw rather than systematically distribution of gifts or promotional items.
- For energy conservation, we'll keep the indoor temperature at a comfortable 21 degrees Celsius.
Food & Beverage :
- A vegetarian option will be available for all lunches and the gala dinner.
- During the gala dinner, 40% of the main course options will be vegetarian. As a result, the availability of meat or fish dishes is limited, and they may become unavailable if pre-ordered in entirety. We highly recommend opting for vegetarian selections to ensure an enjoyable dining experience for all while supporting our sustainability efforts.
- The "Plaza centre-ville" conference center donates all surplus food to local food banks.
- The coffee station will be “zero waste”.
- Food will be served in washable dishes.
- Single-use plastic or glass water bottles will not be distributed.
As a participant, you can also help us make AWC23 a sustainable event. Some guidelines for participants are also given in the guide [1].
